There are quite a few companies now offering mobile broadband modems in Australia which can be used anywhere you can get a mobile phone signal.

 

BLink is an Optus reseller and use the Optus mobile network around Australia for connection. Optus have one of the best coverages around Australia. Connection speeds most time connect at 7.5Mbps. Blink Modem sticks cost $99 then you pay per month - $35 for 1Gb download, $45 for 3Gb download, $75 for 6 Gb download. There are no lengthy contracts - you can call them to cancel at any time.

iiNet uses the 3 mobile broadband network. For a 24 month contract iiNet deliver a free USB modem then monthly charges of $29 for 3Gb downloads, $39 for 6Gb downloads, $49 for 7Gb downloads.

Westnet

Optus Wireless Broadband run their own 3Gb Mobile broadband network. USB modems start from $99. Ongoing monthly costs are $15 for 1Gb download, $25 for 2Gb downloads, $35 for 4Gb download, $55 for 7Gb download.

Telstra Bigpond run their own 3Gb network around Australia - the Telstra Next G network with speeds up to 8Mbps. Telstra USB modem costs from $299. Monthly costs are $29.95 for 400Mb download, $39.95 for 1Gb, $49.95 for 3Gb, $79.95 for 6Gb and $119.95 for 10Gb.

Dodo Australia offer broadband wireless connections via the Optus 3G/HSDPA network. A Mobile Broadband start pack which includes the 3G HSDPA USB modem, SIMM and includes 5Gb allowance for the first month costs $129. After this without a contract costs are $9.99 for 50Mb download, $17.99 for 500Mb download, $24.99 for 1Gb download, $34.99 for 1.5Gb download, $44.99 for 3Gb download and $59.90 for 8Gb download.

Vodaphone Prepaid Mobile Broadband. Vodafone run their own 3G broadband network across Australia. Their prepaid USB modem + 1Gb download for the first month costs $79. Recharge packages are $19 for 500Mb download, $29 for 2Gb download, $49 for 4Gb download, $100 for 6Gb download, $150 for 12Gb download.

3 Mobile Broadband run their own 3G network around Australia. 24 months contract and you get a free modem then ongoing monthly charges are $15 for 1Gb download, $29 for 3Gb downloads, $49 for 7Gb downloads.

Virgin Mobile Broadband Internet. Virgin mobile uses the Optus 3G network. Pre-paid USB modems cost $89 including 2Gb of downloads for the first month. Monthly ongoing recharges costs $10 for 300Mb download, $15 for 500Mb downloads, $30 for 1Gb download, $50 for 3Gb, $100 for 6Gb and $149 for 10Gb.
