Chinatown has a
great selection of restaurants from all over Asia. You can choose from
Cantonese, Sichuan, Malaysian, Taiwanese, Japanese and other regional
cuisines.
There is a good choice of Cantonese, Sichuan and other regional Chinese food. There are a number of restaurants along Dixon street with touts trying to get you to eat at their restaurant. Try to avoid these as the quality of food is not good. There are plenty of other good places in Chinatown to waste your money at these places. The Regal Chinese restaurant (1 review) one of the best Yum Cha restaurants in Sydney. The Marigold Chinese restaurant (1 review) also does great Yum Cha and for dinner they specialise in seafood and other meals with an Cantonese flavour. Just at the bottom of Dixon Street next to the Chinese gates. Serves Yum Cha everyday and banquet meals. Next door is Emperor's Garden Cakes and Bakery serving great desserts and their special Emperor's Puffs which are pasties with sweet custard inside.

Tetsuya is renowned for being one of the best restaurants in Sydney. Located at 529 Kent St Sydney, right behind the cinema complex on George Street.
Tetsuya Japanese Restaurant I-Chi-Ban Teppanyaki Restaurant serves the traditional Teppan-yaki food, cooked in front of you on the hot plate. Located at 355 Sussex St Sydney.

There are a number of great places that serve Laksa, the spicy noodle soup from Malaysia. Oneof the best places is called The Happy Chef located on the floor of the Sussex St centre. There is an entrance to Sussex St and also on Dixon St mall. They serve a variety of Laksa including vegetarian, chicken, seafood and my favourite the spicy beef laksa.
East Ocean Restaurant serves authentic Chinese seafood. They have fresh seafood in fish tanks for you to choose exactly what you want to eat. Located right in the heart of Chinatown it is quite expensive though well worth it. 421-429 Sussex St Haymarket Ph: (02) 9212 4198 www.eastocean.com.au
The Golden Century Seafood Restaurant 393 - 399 Sussex St Sydney One of busiest restaurants open late, often after midnight. Fresh seafood with a specialty of pippies (like small muscles) in their XO special sauce. www.goldencentury.com.au House of Guangzhou 1st Floor, 76 Ultimo Road Haymarket specialises in Peking Duck. Mother Chiu's Taiwanese Gourmet Restaurant is located at 86-88 Dixon St Chinatown Sydney. Mother Chiu's serves good food at reasonable prices. Taiwan Taiwanese Cuisine is a new restaurant at 52 Dixon Street Chinatown. It has great decor and lovely food.
Xiclo Vietnamese Noodle Bar (1 review) has some great casual dining. They serve great Pho noodles and you should also try there fresh Vietnamese spring rolls.
